About NIGZ

The Netherlands Institute for Health Promotion NIGZ supports professionals and organisations with the development and implementation of health promotion. We work at local, national and international level. Aim is to make health promotion effective and efficient. We are experts in innovation, development and implementation and bridge research and practice, (inter-)national and local, and health topics and healthy living.

In our work we are inspired by the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion, in which health promotion has been described as "the process of enabling people to increase control over, and to improve, their health".

Strategy
Our strategic focus is on the process of health promotion. Supporting health promotion practice is the core of our business. We invest in innovation and development on the one hand, and on the other hand support organisations and health promotion specialists in doing their job effectively. The Netherlands Institute for Health Promotion NIGZ seeks partnerships with other organisations at the local, national and international level. Advocacy for positive health and lobbying in the political arena is considered an integral part of the strategy.
