About NIGZ
The Netherlands Institute for Health Promotion NIGZ supports professionals and organisations in the development and implementation of health promotion. NIGZ as a not-for-profit organisation works at a local, national and international level. NIGZ works with and provides support for a range of organisations, e.g. local and national government, ministries, schools, health services, companies, professions and hospitals, helping translate health promotion into useful practice. NIGZ collaborates the publicprivate area and social enterprises. In taking a strategic focus on the process of health promotion, supporting health promotion policy and practice is the core business of NIGZ. NIGZ as an expert in innovation and development supports organisations and specialists to do their job more effectively. To strengthen partnerships with other organisations at local, national and international levels NIGZ looks to build healthy alliances at all levels. Advocacy for promoting health and well-being and lobbying in the political arena are an integral part of the strategy of NIGZ.
In our work we are inspired by the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion, in which health promotion has been described as "the process of enabling people to increase control over, and to improve, their health".
Strategy
Our strategic focus is on the process of health promotion. Supporting health promotion practice is the core of our business. We invest in innovation and development on the one hand, and on the other hand support organisations and health promotion specialists in doing their job effectively. The Netherlands Institute for Health Promotion NIGZ seeks partnerships with other organisations at the local, national and international level. Advocacy for positive health and lobbying in the political arena is considered an integral part of the strategy.
